Sergio Fernandez aka DoF (Depth of Field) es un artista multidisciplinar que tras vivir y trabajar durante 7 años en Asia (India, Nepal, Tailandia, Japón, China, etc) ha regresado para ofrecer en Europa toda la experiencia y dinamismo aprendidos, formar una familia y montar un estudio en Asturias.

La educación formal bascula entre un perfil humanista/artístico (licenciado en Comunicación Audiovisual -Universidad de Barcelona-, Máster de Cine y Audiovisual contemporáneo) y un perfil técnico-aplicado (técnico superior desarrollo de aplicaciones informáticas, técnico de edición y mezcla de sonido para Cine, técnico de laboratorio 35mm).

Tras años ampliando perspectivas técnicas y estéticas en rodajes de cine, haciendo fotografía de producto, dirección de fotografía en Bollywood, edición y etalonaje de documentales, e incursiones en el mundo del marketing, start ups, web design y mecánica de bicicletas se pone al frente del departamento de Posproducción de una productora alemana en Pequín, y compagina la dirección y edición de todo tipo de productos audiovisuales para Audi Sport Asia, Mercedes AMG, Apple, Porsche, PIrelli, ORF, TVE, Volkswagen, UCI, FIA, (fundamentalmente alrededor de deportes de motor y deportes extremos -bmx, trial, downhill, bobsleigh, skeleton, freestyle snowboard and big air, ski freestyle-) con un perfil más creativo produciendo música, llevando a cabo exposiciones de fotografía e instalaciones de audiovisual contemporáneo y haciendo VJing y mappings en festivales underground de música en China.

Actualmente está trabajando en dos EPs, hip hop y electrónica, ofreciendo su know how en proyectos audiovisuales creativos, adaptando al contexto europeo de las obras ya expuestas en otros países asiáticos y diseñando e implementando experiencias audiovisuales interactivas.

Algunas de sus obras se han expuesto Caixaforum Barcelona, Bombay (India), Pequín (China), 95 Gallery (Madrid), Fundación Princesa de Asturias «SEMANA DE LOS PREMIOS» (2022, 2023).

En 2023 desarrolla un proyecto artístico en Gijón, una experiencia sensorial interactiva homenaje al universo surrealista del Premio Princesa de Asturias de las Letras 2023, Haruki Murakami, en la la antigua Fábrica de tabacos de Gijón.

En 2024 la antigua Fábrica de tabacos de Gijón vuelve a ser el escenario de un gran proyecto artístico audiovisual. Durante una semana, un mapping generativo e interactivo intercalado con un mapping audiovisual en la fachada estuvo dando vida al edificio y la plaza del Lavaderu. Un auténtico espectáculo que además de ser portada del periódico, tuvo un gran acogimiento por parte del público que disfrutó de una propuesta valiente, diferente e impecable técnicamente.

Sergio Fernández, aka DoF (Depth of Field), is a multidisciplinary artist who, after living and working for seven years in Asia (India, Nepal, Thailand, Japan, China, etc.), has returned to Europe to put all the experience and dynamism he gained to work, and to start a family and build his studio in Asturias.

His formal education balances between a humanistic/artistic profile (a degree in Audiovisual Communication from the University of Barcelona and a Master’s in Contemporary Film and Contemporary Audiovisual Media) and a technical-applied profile (Higher Technician in Software Application Development, Sound Editing and Mixing Technician for Film, and 35mm Laboratory Technician).

After years of expanding technical and aesthetic perspectives through film shoots, product photography, cinematography in Bollywood, documentary editing and color grading, and forays into the world of marketing, start-ups, web design, and bicycle mechanics, he took charge of the Postproduction department at a German production company in Beijing. There, they combined directing and editing a wide variety of audiovisual content for Audi Sport Asia, Mercedes AMG, Apple, Porsche, Pirelli, ORF, TVE, Volkswagen, UCI, FIA—mainly focused on motorsports and extreme sports (BMX, trial, downhill, bobsleigh, skeleton, freestyle snowboard and big air, ski freestyle)—with a more creative role producing music, organizing photography exhibitions and contemporary audiovisual installations, and performing VJing and mappings at underground music festivals in China.

Currently, he´s working on two EPs—one in hip-hop and another in electronic music—offering their expertise in creative audiovisual projects, adapting previously exhibited works to the European context, and designing and implementing interactive audiovisual experiences.

Some of his works have been exhibited at Caixaforum Barcelona, Mumbai (India), Beijing (China), 95 Gallery (Madrid), and the Princess of Asturias Foundation «SEMANA DE LOS PREMIOS » (2022, 2023).

In 2023, they developed an artistic project in Gijón—an interactive sensory experience paying tribute to the surreal universe of the 2023 Princess of Asturias Award for Literature laureate, Haruki Murakami—held at the former Tobacco Factory of Gijón.

In 2024, the former Tobacco Factory of Gijón once again became the canvas for a major audiovisual art project. For a week, a generative and interactive video mapping combined with an audiovisual mapping on the building’s façade brought the building and Lavaderu Square to life. This spectacular event not only made the newspaper’s front page but was also warmly received by the public, who appreciated a bold, distinctive, and technically flawless proposal.
